Tenants can connect to SGS Studentbostäders wireless networks with eduroam in common premises.

The wireless network is not wide open, it requires authentication. It is protected because it makes it possible for you to use your account. It does also protect your Internet traffic from being exposed more than necessary. It is important that you use a local firewall on your computer. With cell phones and tablet devices etc it can be hard to find firewalls. The security level that you have set on your internet connection at home (hemma.sgsstudentbostader.se) is not applied on the wireless connection.

The authentication method is WPA2 Enterprise. A technical therm for it is dot1x, which comes from the standard that describes the technology, IEEE 802.1x.
